OGRE Batrep #15 - OPA! The Central Americans are here!

Off the coast of a Greek isle named Aigina, an Armored Group belonging to the North American Combine (Central America) disembarks onto Greek soil. The objective: A temple complex to the godess Aphaea. Only El Guapo knows why...

El Guapo Groupo 1 - North American Combine Central American  [EGG1-NACCA] goes feet dry on Greek soil for the first time in history, to take a Greek Temple Complex.

*     *     *

"Dimitris, why all the boats come here?"

"I do not know, woman! Why you ask me silly question?

"Why you not know anything, silly man? All the time, I ask question, you no have answer! They have machines - look!"

"Ooof! Woman! Run to Athenios house and use phone. Call the magistrate!"

*     *     *

Strategic Map:

Scenario - Three objective zones on the map with one 10 point objective in the middle temple complex and (2) 3-point objectives to the Northwest and Southeastern sides of the battlefield.

Forces involved: 300 Points of Greek Defense Forces  vs. 300 points of NAC Central American forces. Forces deploy off of the table edge, with the NACCA Forces deploying first.

Objective - Meeting Engagement. Objectives on the map provide points every turn if a player has a unit wholly within that zone and is not contested. There are (2) 3-point areas, and (1) 10 point areas. If one side takes the central temple objective for more than 10 consecutive turns, the battle is won. VPs are also awarded for units destroyed.

Strategic Map 2:

Tactical Map:

El Guapo Groupo-1 would come from the South. The Greek defenders set up a Tactical Assembly Area just Northeast of the Temple of Aphaia.

Greek Defense Forces [GDF] GEVs take the 3-point objective in the Northwestern edge of the battlefield.

Initial contact of El Guapo Groupo-1 and the GDF GEV assets skirmish around the temple complex while the bulk of EGG-1 NACCA armor and infantry move into place.

In the distance, a second wave of NACCA GEV moves on the temple while GDF armor maneuvers to meet the Super Heavy Company and infantry.

The NACCA GEV Squadrons 3 and 4 move up to join the fray.

On the Western flank, an Armor Battalion rolls on the 3-point objective held by a single squadron of GDF GEV's - they would delay but not hold here.

On the eastern flank of the temple, GDF armor commander decides to roll southeast and take out the remaining NACCA GEV and deal with the few tanks and the infantry.

NACCA armor assault grinds into the fierce defenses of the Greeks. In the distance, the heavy infantry leave the city to unleash missile fire on the GDF armor engaging NACCA  GEV squadrons 2 and 3.

The GDF armor engages EGG-1 NACCA GEV squadrons 2 and 3

GDF Armor neutralizes EGG-1 GEV squadrons 2 and 3 to the southeast.

El Guapo Groupo-1 heavy infantry deploy into the city to pick their shots.

EGG-1 heavy infantry jump the GDF armor with missiles. Most shots would fail to hit.

The GDF commander turns his armor on the EGG-1 heavy infantry. They would not have time to reload from the hover truck before being wiped.

The Temple Complex cleared and uncontested, and all EGG-1 NACCA threats eliminated elsewhere on the field, the GDF commander moves northwest to meet the last attackers.

1 LGEV remained on the southeast 3 point objective and 1 heavy tank remained on the northwest 3 point objective. The last El Guapo Tank Company would be wiped by the GDF Super Heavies.

In the end, El Guapo Groupo-1 North American Combine Central American was wiped out by the Greek Defenders. Attempts by the Greek Government to contact NAC were unsuccessful, so the mystery behind the attack on the Temple Complex of Aphaea on the Greek Isle of AIGina may never be discerned.

Greek Defense Force: TOTAL VICTORY!

Until next time, fellow OGREnauts!

OGRE Batrep #14: THE GUNS OF LIECHTENSTEIN!

Russian and Lithuanian Komandirs somewhere outside of Liechtenstein. An Airbase and secret weapons facility where they make... secret things.

Russians: "Where the fuck is Liechtenstein?"

Lithuanians: "We're going to go play in the swamp!"

Russians: "Why?"

Lithuanians: "Because it is at our front!"

Russians: "Move your front - there are no high value targets there!"

Lithuanians: "No."

Russians: "Fine."

The Lithuanian troops deployed armor and infantry in front of the massive swamp with no military value except a lone car-park tucked in the midst of the morass. The Russian Komandir deployed north of the wood line in front of the Tactical Assembly Area and split his forces into two attack groups with no support.

**********************************

Liechtenstein: "We will wax our mustachios and fart in your general direction!!!"

Strategic Map:

Scenario - TEN objective zones on the map with each side placing a 20 point objective in each players' deployment zone during deployment - these generate no Victory Points for the player who owns that objective. The players' must take their opponents 20 point objective to score those points. There are two 5 point objectives, two 3 point objectives, two 10 point objectives, and 2 two point objectives also on the map

Forces involved: 180 Points of Soviet Federated States supported by 180 points of Lithuanian forces vs. 360 points of Liechtenstein United Front. Forces deploy off of the table edge, with the Liechtenstein United Front Forces deploying first. The Russian / Lithuanian Commanders had the opportunity to deploy first, but deferred.

Objective - Occupation and Defend. Objectives on the map provide points every turn if a player has a unit wholly within that zone and is not contested. Victory Points are awarded at the end of each players' turn if the objective is not contested. VPs are also awarded for units destroyed.

Tactical Map:

The Lithuanian troops deployed armor and infantry directly in front of a swampland in the hopes that their infantry would be able to move through it.

The Russians deployed a strike group in the middle to deny the urban area VP to the Lithuanians. No relief would come, however.

The second Russian strike group deployed on their flank to take the objectives in that corridor.

The Russian armored groups meet the Liechtenstein artilleriegroupe forces. In the urban corridor to the west, the Russians would get caught up in a firefight they could not win. On this eastern flank, the Russians would take the objectives.

The GEV skirmishers held ground until the armor group could move up.

Russians roll on the eastern objective and the middle urban objectives... the Lithuanian commander keeps attacking the swamp.

Russian Missile Tank Battery and Light Tanks screen the Russian HQ units on the western flank.

Liechtenstein reserves move up to try and contest the western objectives from the Russians.

The Lithuanian swamp assault...

Liechtenstein armor group swings east to thwart the Lithuanians advance

The commander of Liechtenstein Artilleriegroupe 13 brings his guns to bear.

Liechtenstein Artilleriegroupe 13 gets pushed off of the 10-point objective and reinforcements are chased away!

Liechtenstein armor decimates the Lithuanian advance in a two-prong attack from the city and the western edge of the battlefield. Lithuanian forces dropped below fighting strength at this point.

Commanders debate the differences in OVERRUN and RAM rules as the last ditch effort of Russian Grp 1 finds a super-heavy tank in the midst of a GEV squadron in the city.

With no russian attackers left in the city areas, and the Lithuanians having been soundly flomped in the western corridor, the Russian Komandir recalled his Armor GRP 2 from the battlefield and headed home...

* * * * * * * * * *

Russian Komandir: "Leytenant Davidovich! What are the Lithuanians doing now?"

"Sir, they have been involuntarily drawn-down below fighting strength and are withdrawing from the field!"

"Fucking Lithuanians. Let that be a lesson to you Leytenant. Never attack through a swamp. Especially with armor. Recall GRP2 from the field and get this pig started. I want to make the airfield before nightfall. And have the light tanks run up front - the missile battery and the other super-heavy are to remain closed-in with this tank."

"Yes sir."

"And Davidovich - this regiment is never to return to Liechtenstein! I don't even know where the fuck we are!"

"Yes sir."

Total Liechtenstein Victory!

OGRE Batrep #13: "Hold them by the nose and kick them in the ass!"

United States Forces - North American Combine  European Command [USNAC EUROCOM]

13:33:77 zulu somewhere northwest of Dresden, Germany.

"XO!" The Commander EUROCOM United States Forces looked at the Intelligence briefing sitting on the makeshift table in his field quarters.
The  USNAC EUROCOM Executive Officer appeared over his shoulder. "Yes, sir."

"Fucking don't sneak up on me like that! How many times have I told you that??" The XO started his standard reply but was cut off by the standard response.

"At ease! The Commander stood up and started pacing. "The Russians are fucking around in my newly designated Area of Operations, and we need to put an end to it. They have armor assets as well as OGRE support running roughshod through Central Germany and they have Chechnyan units joining them. What the fuck is a Chechnya anyway?"

"Yes, sir. SigInt verified the force makeup this morning, and Chech-"

"Well, I have a plan." He sat back down at the crate-table and pointed to an area just west of their current position. "We have the Speedshot GEV Battalion and the Scattershot Armored Battalion both ready to move right now, correct?"

"Yes sir."

"Good. Give the order to be ready to move in 3 hours. They probably know we're here at this point."

"Yes sir. What orders should I give the Company Commanders regarding the battle plan?"

The Commander EUROCOM United States Forces didn't look up from his map. " Tell them we're going to hold the Russians by the nose and kick them in the ass! Post haste!"

Elements of Speedshot would feint down the left flank to hold the Chechnyan forces in check while Scattershot supported by a Company of GEV's would assault the bulk of the Russian armor on the right. The OGRE MKII was too far south to be of any significance if they moved fast.

Strategic Map:

Scenario - Four objective zones on the map with one 10 point objective in each players' deployment zone - these generate no Victory Points for the player who owns that objective. The players' must take their opponents 10 point objective to score those points. There are two 5 point objectives in the middle of the map on each side.

Forces involved: 150 Points of Soviet Federated States supported by 150 points of Chechnyan forces vs. 300 points of US EUROCOM forces. Forces deploy off of the table edge, with the USNAC EUROCOM Forces deploying first.

Objective - Occupation and Defend. Objectives on the map provide points every turn if a player has a unit wholly within that zone and is not contested. There are (2) 5-point areas, and (2) 10 point areas. The 10 point objectives are inside each players' deployment zone and the owning player scores no points for that objective. Victory Points are awarded at the end of each players' turn if the objective is not contested. VPs are also awarded for units destroyed.

Tactical Map:

Russian and Chechnyan deployments and first contact

Chechnyan GEV and Super Heavy assets move up to engage

The NAC EUROCOM feint would be blunted here, and the Chechnyans would hold this objective for the remainder of the fight

On the other flank, the Russians would try to halt the armored spearhead

Tactical Situation:

Bravo Company would not advance as the CO did not receive orders in time...

American EUROCOM assaults the Russian armor and takes the other 5-point objective

The engagement takes shape

Maneuver and initial shots - The Russian units are caught without support and unable to reach the objective

Bravo Company [Компания "Браво"] could not weather the fusillade of the American gunners and gets wiped trying to contest the objective

The lone Russian heavy tank would exact revenge with a well placed shot into the super heavy and contest the objective for one turn. It would not be enough.

On the other flank, the NAC GEV Company was wiped out and the Chechnyan armor and GEVs moved to harass  the NAC home objective but were pushed back

The final SatInt images of the day. In the end, neither home objective was taken and the Russian OGRE MKII made a command decision to beat feet!

"XO!"

"Yes, sir!"

The Commander EUROCOM United States Forces relit his Havana and sat back in the LGEV he had commandeered during the fight. "Get me PAN-EUROCOM on the line. We don't need anymore of this bullshit in our backyard!" He unfolded his bulky frame from out of the vehicle and stretched. "How the fuck did they get a Mark Two in here without us knowing it?"

The Executive Officer started to reply, "Signal Inte -."

"At ease! We need to hunt that thing down and kill it. Along with the rest of them. Get me PAN-EUROCOM on the line!"

"Yes sir!"

FINAL SCORE:
USNAC EUROCOM: 264 points.
Russian/Chechnyan: 233 points.

Marginal USNAC EUROCOM Victory!
