OGRE Batrep #7 Belarus SFS gets a DECISIVE VICTORY against a Pan-Euro coalition.

  OGRE Battle Report [BatRep #7]

The Pan-Europeans evidently got tired of the Belarussian armor running roughshod through Europe, so they banded together and decided to wipe the rogue Russians out. They made their attack on the SFS 51st Tactical Assembly Area outside of Dresden Germany to keep them from reaching the still-intact airfield.

They got a face full of Soviet armor instead! Overwhelming firepower and superior tactics won the day.

The strategic map:

Scenario - Four objective zones on the map with one 5 point objective in each players' deployment zone - these generate no Victory Points for the player who owns that objective. The players' must take their opponents 5 point objective to score those points. There are two 3 point objectives in the middle of the map on each side [east and west]. Victory Points are awarded at the end of each players' turn if the objective is not contested.

Forces involved: 300 Points of Soviet Federated States vs. 300 points of Pan-European forces made up of Macedonian, Italian, Belgium, and Austrian elements led by two commanders.

Objective - Occupation and Defend. Objectives on the map provide points every turn if a player has a unit wholly within that zone and is not contested. There are (2) 3-point areas, and (2) 5 point areas. The 5 point objectives are inside each players' deployment zone and the owning player scores no points for that objective.

This is from the northern side of the map and disposition of forces after initial contact had been made and maneuvers had started. It was a bold charge up the middle for the Pan-Europeans at Oh-Dark-Thirty. The SFS brigade was initially unprepared, but quickly saw that the plan was working...

From the southern side: The Pan-Europeans did not have time to muster any armor as they were pressed for time and needed to get into the Dresden area quickly. Rounding up what units they could from member states, they charged right down the center of the field into the Soviet Tactical Assembly Area.

The SFS Armor Group went up the western flank and took the objective there after a few turns of fighting and the Ground Effect Battalion took the eastern objective.

To the east, a force of Pan-Euro GEVs tried to take the objective, but the SFS GEV Battalion kept them at bay. The pan-Euro GEVs scored first blood on the hillside to the southwest but the SFS screen kept them well away from the objective area

Western objective area - the Soviet armor rolls into the Pan-European Ground Effects units trying to hold on.

They would not:

In the center of the valley, the bulk of the PE forces array against the OGRE MK II

A Macedonian Light GEV squadron makes their run against the OGRE, but finds Soviet GEVs on their 6's!

Back to the east flank, the Soviet GEV commander surveys the battlefield and must start making corrections to his defense.

A small harassing force sent north to the Pan-European 'home' objective. Two GEV's, a missile GEV and a light GEV. They managed to get ten points until they were wiped out.

The carnage in the objective area as a massive GEV battle takes place
The commander is taken out:

And the aftermath:

And the results of the fight (or not) for the Soviet Tactical Assembly Area and the lone wolf OGRE MKII (No one really knows if the OGRE actually had ammunition...)
PE reinforcements had to be brought in and eventually they won the objective from the brave OGRE, but nowhere near soon enough! The planes were landing...

A sad, sad sight - depending on which side you're on. A black-smoked OGRE.

SFS armor rolls out to meet the new PE threats after the other objectives fell

The last turn. The Pan-European GEV forces were trying to assemble a counter-attack, but were far too late to save the day. The Soviet transports landed and the reinforcements were on the ground in the city.

FINAL SCORE:
Soviet Federated States: 71
Pan-European Coalition: 35

CRUSHING Soviet Victory!

OGRE Battle Report [BatRep #6] ...ending in the ubiquitous draw.

 OGRE Battle Report [BatRep #6]

**Please note: I had to re-upload these pics because of problems with another hosting site, so this report is missing some of its' graphical data.

Scenario - Four objective zones on the map with one 5 point objective in each players' deployment zone - these generate no Victory Points for the player who owns that objective. The players' must take their opponents 5 point objective to score those points. There are two 3 point objectives in the middle of the map on each side. Victory Points are awarded at the end of each players' turn.

Forces involved: 300 Points of North American Combine units vs. 150 points of Soviet Federated States units, and 150 points of Pan-Euro units.

Objective - Occupation and Defend. Objectives on the map provide points every turn if a player has a unit wholly within that zone. There are (2) 3-point areas, and (2) 5 point areas. The 5 point objectives are inside each players' deployment zone and the owning player scores no points for that objective.

This was the battlefield:

For this game, I chose to take a lone unit for my 150 points: An OGRE MK IV. It calls itself 'Deadpool.' [You know those OGRE AI's - they can be a bit quirky!]

FOC and disposition of the 1st Deadpool Combat Support Brigade:

FOC and disposition of the Soviet Federated States units turn one... number of units: 1.

The Southern Sector was a mess with the bulk of the PE and NAC armored forces colliding there:

Meanwhile, back in the eastern sector in the NA Combine deployment objective, Deadpool would only hold out against the defenders for two turns - after that, the OGRE succumbs to the defenders guns.

After getting its' main and secondary batteries shot off along with 52 of 56 treads and 8 Anti-personnel guns, Deadpool limped away (but not before taking out a unit of infantry and one of the missile tanks!). Deadpool survived the mission by limping into the urban area for cover. The MK IV had just its' 3 missile racks left - they had been emptied out with 11 of 15 hits on Combine forces!

FINAL SCORE:
Soviet Federated States with the Deadpool Combat Support Brigade: 49
North American Combine: 48
DRAW!
